When a spot becomes available in your child's classroom, we will reach out to you.
We do NOT accept children over the age of 5 as new enrollees.
We’re sorry, but we are unable to offer guidance around the likelihood that a particular child will be enrolled in the future. Completing a waitlist questionnaire does not guarantee that Apparo Academy will enroll your child.
We start each new school year the beginning of August. We typically contact families to enroll children in the upcoming school year in early March. Sometimes spots become available throughout the school year, and if this happens, we contact families based primarily on the date they joined our waitlist.
If you are interested in enrolling more than one child, please complete a separate questionnaire for each child.
Application Procedures
Apparo Academy's program integrates special education and related services into all aspects of its daily program. Studies indicate inclusive settings provide typically developing children with multiple opportunities to learn many new skills, values, and attitudes related to human differences, including learning how to be friends with people who are different from themselves and to assist classmates who may be experiencing difficulty.
When asked to describe friendships with children with medical or therapy needs, typically developing peers did not identify them as different from other friendships and talked about the fun they had together. These attitudes and behaviors contribute to an overall positive classroom community.
We accept all children, but our classrooms are organized in a way to allow for teaching and learning to occur throughout the school day. A classroom with 10 children will comprise of 6 children with therapy and/or medical needs and 4 children with no accommodations required (typically developing).
Each classroom allows no more than 2 children who are non-ambulatory and 2 children with an ASD diagnosis. This design helps Apparo maintain a high standard of education while also creating a beautiful mixture of children with varying abilities who can encourage and learn from each other.
Application Process
We are so excited that you have selected Apparo Academy as your school of choice.
- Step 1: Add your child's name to our waitlist. When a spot becomes available in your child's classroom you will be set up for the Parent Interview and Child Observation.
- Step 2: You will be contacted by Admissions and emailed a link to apply to Apparo through the TADS website. There will be a link at the end of this application process to pay a NON-REFUNDABLE APPLICATION FEE of $250. This fee is required prior to the interview and tour.
- Step 3: Parent Interview and Child Observation: The parent interview is a great time for us to get to know more about your family and your child to determine if we can meet your child's needs. The parent interview will be held at Apparo and include discussions with Admissions, School Principal, Therapy, and Nursing. While you are participating in the parent interview, we will have your child in the appropriate classroom to observe how he/she interacts with peers. You must have been placed on the waiting list prior to scheduling the interview.
- Step 4 — Admission Decision: The Admissions Office will contact you to let you know if your child has been invited to attend Apparo. Once the decision has been made by the team at Apparo and you as a family, then we will send you a link through TADS to enroll.
- Step 5 — Complete Enrollment: Complete Enrollment: If accepted, you will enroll online through TADS. You will have the opportunity to apply for financial aid during this step. Discounts and scholarships will be applied prior to signing a tuition agreement. All required documents will be uploaded during this stage and are required prior to beginning school.
Tuition
The tuition rate is $12,300 per year for August–July including teacher planning days, legal holidays and any student absences. The hours of operation are 7:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Tuition at Apparo is very modest, considering the value of the services received. We strive to assure modest rates despite the high cost of running a quality educational program for children with special medical and learning needs that requires a significantly low student-teacher ratio; as suggested by the National Association of Educating Young Children (NAEYC).
Tuition is paid monthly and is applied from August - July including teacher planning days, legal holidays and any student absences.
If your family feels that the tuition would be a financial burden for you then you can apply for financial aid during the enrollment process.
Sibling Discount
Families with two children enrolled at Apparo will receive a discount to their monthly tuition. In such cases, if two children are enrolled the family will receive a reduction of 10% per month for each child registered after the first child. This reduction is not added on top of financial assistance.
